Mark Scurria

Dr. Mark Scurria graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 1989 and completed a one year general practice residency at the San Antonio Veterans’ Administration Medical Center. Dr. Scurria completed his prosthodontics residency at the Houston VAMC in 1992. He then spent seven years as a full-time member of the UNC School of Dentistry faculty earning promotion to Associate Professor with tenure. He directed the complete denture curriculum, maintained an active intramural faculty practice, and lectured extensively on both new implant therapeutics and outcomes of conventional and implant dental care. He recruited the first large-scale implant clinical trial at UNC and was its’ co-principal investigator. This innovative study demonstrated the efficacy of a simplified and less costly approach to lower denture stabilization using Astra Tech implants. Dr. Scurria has enjoyed full time private practice since 1999.

Dr. Scurria lives in Chapel Hill with his wife, Amy, and three children.
